Truely a website dedicated to Cyprus North Property Laws - North Cyprus For many who live or have purchased homes in North Cyprus this will be old news, but for those who are just starting their search for a place in the Sun this we suspect will be of interest. During January 2008, all Estate Agents who wish to trade in North Cyprus must be registered. As you will have seen from our front page Donaghy and Beyler became fully registered members November 2007. A great step forward for the North Cyprus property industry which will enable foreign property buyers the ability to buy with confidence. Other changes in the North Cyprus (TRNC) property law again provided protection to North Cyprus property buyers. When contracts have been signed it is now the duty of your Estate Agent to lodge your contract with the District Lands Office in order it be stamped (to take place within 21 days of signing). This Law is to protect any new owners against any charge/encumbrance being put on their land or property. The property or land in effect is then the property of the contract holder and so will remain mortgage or charge free. Additional Safeguards for North Cyprus Property Purchasers It has now become a requirement of Law that a land search be carried out prior to contracts being signed, this procedure is to ensure that land or property is free of any encumbrance.
